RISC OS in Buffy!
RISCOS the vampire slayer!
Willow to use RISC OS in new
episodes...
Being ultra-cool and all, Joss Wheeedon obviously doesn't like
to have windoze on display in his top TV series, Buffy the vampire slayer.
"In reality, everyone uses windows" grumbled Weeedon, "but Buffy's not set in the real world, so we can use whatever technology we like. For example, we can use a Mac, even though they only have one mouse button!"
Previously, a Mac (specifically a powerbook G3 laptop) has been used by Willow (Buffy's very own computer geek).

But when the power supply went wrong, the producers of Buffy decided something else was required.
"Last season we were having serious problems with the electronics in our G3. Eventually, things got out of hand."

"After that we started looking for a replacement. Windows is just too mundane, and Linux has got too much of a geeky image. Then one day our web researchers came accross something called the, uh, I think it was the KonBar, which pointed us in the direction of something really different!"
And that something is our fave OS, in the form of a RuskStation Laptop! We spoke to Joss about why he chose RISC OS
"RISC OS looks really cool. It's perfect for Buffy. And it's British, which is great. The fans all know that we love to have plenty of links with England in our show. Oh, and the RuskStation Laptop looks real smooth, much nicer than that old G3 pile of cack we were using. I think Alyson [Hannigan - who plays Willow] is really going to love it. She always did feel silly using a Mac, and she downright refused to use Windows!"

In fact, when we visited the Buffy set a few days later, Alyson was so engrossed with RISC OS that she'd fallen asleep in front of her new RuskStation.
* * * * UPDATE! * * * *
A New range of Buffy action figures see a tiny RuskStation laptop accessory in the 'Willow' pack. As you should be able to see, the model includes incredible detail, and the case is very impressive, something we're confused about - even we! haven't seen the final RuskStation portable yet!
RISC OS will also feature on all the desktop machines in future episodes.
